Sayulita Post Construction

Most of the winter our small town was totally torn up with building materials piled up all over, jack hammers hammering, mud, closed streets and sidewalks etc. We are very happy to say that just about all of the construction is over, town has been cleaned up and Sayulita's facelift looks pretty damn good. A new entrance to town, new sidewalks, pedestrian areas, new palm trees, new paint have given Sayulita a fresh new look. Some like it, some don't. What do you think?

  1. Always enjoy your blogs and the pictures are wonderful. How about a few more for us annual visitors (last there is Jan as construction started)I'm not sure I like the white/red combo in the square, but that can be changed in time.

    1. Sure we can take some additional pics and post them. One of the things I like about Mexico is that people are not afraid to use bold colors. It's a really great way to dress up concrete walls and make them affordably interesting. We saw the same Plaza color scheme in Lo De Marcos last weekend but I still can't help thinking about candy canes when I see those colors together.

  6. Famous? Wow! I am guessing you may be going to the La Cruz market. If that is the case, grab a scone and a coffee when you are there and enjoy. Great setting at the marina. Hope there are plenty of vendors still selling. Boats? I have never taken a boat from Sayulita so I can't recommend one. The best thing about Sayulita is that you don't have to do anything. An umbrella, a few books, a few boogie boards and you have the makings of hours of entertainment right there. Food, fluids and shade and everyone will be much happier. Hard to go wrong in Sayulita when it comes to food. Our favorite taco spots are Tacos on the Street, Tacos Ivan and Itacate. All different and delicious for their own reasons. Calypso and Sayulita Cafe if the parents want a night out. But ask around for different opinions. We need to venture out more for more good food options since I am certain we will find new favorites. Glad to hear your visit with Mickey isn't holding up to Sayulita so far.

  7. Forgot to add something. One of our favorite things to do is to sit in the Plaza in the early evening and watch the town come to life. As things cool off activity starts to pick up. After dinner, grab some ice cream and let the kids run for a while. Our kids almost always find a pack of locals to run and play with for a while. So much better than going back to the casa and wonder what to do until the kids are ready for bed.

  8. Chris, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. We didn't know about the market you talkeds about although the groundskeeper at our house told us to go to Buseria so we took the bus and had an adventure. We all really enjoyed it. We went up and down the street least night asking for tacos on the street, and we not disappointed when we got there..MMMM! and we have done ice cream in the town square a couple of times. Today was chairs at the beach "rented with pacifico by the bucket" and boogie boards....people watching. Thanks again for sharing your story with the world. We are from Oregon and I feel blessed how the Internet makes our worlds with in reach.
